High Quality Investment Casting
Investment casting is an industrial process based on lost-wax casting, one of the world’s oldest metal forming techniques. Investment casting has been used in various forms for over 5,000 years.
Gravity and Sand Casting
Sand casting and gravity casting are similar but are actually very different processes. Sand castings are most often produced using aluminum, grey iron, steel, and magnesium. In sand casting, a pattern or mold is used to create a cavity that is used to shape the desired part or industrial component.
During the gravity casting process, liquid or plastic material is poured into a mold and allowed to harden into the shape of the cavity. Parts producers often rely upon this process to create components from molten metals. Casting may involve the use of either disposable or reusable molds. Gravity casting today works well in conjunction with the use of permanent molds.
Sand casting is produced in special factories and accounts for over 60% of all metal castings. Sand casting molds are relatively cheap and the sand is typically contained in a system of frames or mold boxes.
